The UK Dance Network is today announcing the appointment of Fearghus ó Conchúir as its new Independent Chair.

UKDN is a space for collaboration: a gathering place for dance organisations with similar or shared missions, a platform for peer learning and support and exchange of ideas and intelligence, and a conduit for information and opportunities.

UKDN is an informal network of formally constituted, publicly funded dance organisations. It is not, in itself, a formally constituted body or organisation. Coordination of the network is funded entirely by subscriptions from members.

In his new role Fearghus ó Conchúir will be responsible for driving the network’s aims forward, keeping up momentum and challenging it to consider new approaches. ó Conchúir succeeds Gregory Nash, who completes his term as independent chair on the 3rd September 2021.

Cath James, Artistic Director of South East Dance and a member of the UK Dance Network steering group says: ‘We are delighted to have Fearghus with us as Independent Chair. He brings a wealth of artistry and experience in many different contexts, and will help the network navigate the very many challenges confronting the arts, and dance in particular at this moment in time.’

Fearghus says: ‘What dance understands about exploring and supporting our different minds and bodies in an always changing context has never been more relevant to share and to champion.  For that reason, I’m delighted to chair and facilitate the UK Dance Network to support these individuals and organisations that dedicate themselves to making dance visible, vibrant and accessible for artists, audiences and enthusiasts of all kinds.’
